2007 Merlot
2007 Merlot
Tasting Notes
This full-bodied wine offers a delightful nose of plum, fig, boysenberry, and currants with hints of cardamom and tobacco. It has a soft mouth feel, revealing considerable fruit and personality and finishes with broad, earthy tannins.
Vineyard Notes
Seavey’s 14th estate-produced Merlot, the 2007, was made from grapes grown at several different elevations of the vineyard. The grapes were harvested at optimal ripeness of sugar and tannins and with concentrated fruit flavors.
Production Notes
Winemaking style followed classic Bordeaux methods, beginning with whole-berry fermentation, cold soak and native yeast to start fermentation. The wine was aged in French oak barrels (50% new oak) for 18 months before bottling in May 2009.
