2022 Chardonnay
2022 Chardonnay
“More bright citrus, pineapple, minty herbs, and a kiss of honeyed minerality emerge from the 2022 Chardonnay, a medium-bodied, fresher, vivid, focused Chardonnay that has bright acidity. It stays nicely balanced, has notable purity, and outstanding length.” –Jeb Dunnuck (Feb. 2024) 92 points
Tasting Notes
Crisp and lively, the 2022 Seavey Chardonnay features aromas of lemon zest, fresh apricot, and jasmine flowers. These are joined on the pallet by flavors of lemon meringue, almond paste, mandarin peel, and pastry crust, and of course finishing with the precision of our signature minerality. This wine offers a vibrant acidity beautifully balanced by hints of seashell and a light oak structure.

Vineyard Notes
Our Chardonnay blocks are nestled at the lowest elevation of our Estate, down by Conn Creek, where they are surrounded on three sides by trees. The resulting environment encourages a crisp Chardonnay with a wide flavor profile that conveys the soil’s minerality and cool location. The 2022 growing season brought much needed rain ending the recent drought and allowing the vines to grow their full canopy.
Production Notes
The grapes were picked in the week following Labor Day before the early September heat wave. Grapes were hand-harvested in the cool, early morning hours and then immediately whole-cluster pressed before beginning fermentation in French oak barrels and our concrete egg. The wine continued to age in the French oak barrels for nine months (20% new) before bottling in June 2023.
